I try to get back to my room by 445 to call the family again before they leave for work and school. Then I go for a run, take a much needed nap, relax, or do homework.
I’m enrolled in the Air Command and Staff College (ACSC) distance learning course. There are 12 courses, 4 of which are “Applied Courses” with a facilitator and must be scheduled in advance. The course is self paced and each lesson must be completed within 4 months of signing up. My goal is to finish all of the lessons by the end of December.
I didn’t think I had any pictures to share, but I pulled these off of my phone – evidence that I manage to do more than work and school. In all of these, I had to sacrifice sleep to make it happen.
This is my crew and me at Live Band Karaoke.
The second night, my Airman finally got to get on stage and sing his song with the band. We also got to meet the band.
My friend Andrea is here. She invited us backstage to see the band.
Jason sent me a much needed hat to wear when I’m not in uniform.
Nighttime at Al Udeid.
The Zaverls gave Larson this blanket before we left LA. I’m borrowing it while I’m here. It’s quite comfortable…..and it’s a penguin.
My shop started a Fantasy Football League, so I joined. This is my first time and I have no clue what I’m doing, nor much time to figure it out. I’m just along for the ride. This was at our draft night.
I was excited to wear my fro on the way to the hair salon only to get there and be told that their IDs expired and they can’t get on base. So, no more twists for now. I just push it back in a little puff for work.
So, I am a Metallica fan. Their Tribute Band, “Battery,’' came on Labor Day. The concert started at 8pm, when I’m usually in bed. I stayed out until 1030 that night rocking out. It was a great time.
I started in the back and inched my way closer….
And closer….
To the front of the stage.
And then they called the ladies up on stage to sing a few songs. There were about 15 of us who went. It was pretty awesome! The first song they played while we were up there was “Sad but True,” which I didn’t know all of the words to. But then they played “Fuel,” “Whiskey in a Jar,” and “King Nothing.” I was all over those songs!
Walking back from dinner one night, I saw this sign posted on one of the trailers. Get it? There’s no grass!!
Off to work with my puff!
And I took some pictures of my room today.
This is what the dorms look like on my side of base. Yes, it looks like a prison.
Laundry room.
My room is just behind the stairwell on the left.
Here’s the suite I share. The bathroom is straight ahead and my suite mate’s door is on the left.
It’s not a bad setup, but an oven/range would be nice.
That’s all I have for now. Until next time!
