I mentioned in an earlier post that John and then Elena came down to help out while I was out storm chasing and Jason was at SOS. Jason popped up for a visit about a week after I got home. The following Thursday I had some friends over for dinner to hang out. I work with Olivia and her husband Brandon has worked with Jason. Larson enjoyed spending time with them.
He also got a new toy that day....a jumperoo. He didn't really know what to do when I first put him in there, but I think he's getting the hang of it. Check it out.
The day before Father's Day Larson was not feeling well. Earlier in the week he had a stuffy nose, but it was nothing serious. That Friday afternoon he was super fussy. When he got up on Saturday he just wasn't himself. He was lethargic, not my usual happy baby. He had a a slight temperature around 99 degrees all afternoon and into the evening, but nothing serious enough to call a doctor. But around 0100 in the morning I took his temp again and it was 101.1 degrees. That's enough to call. I called the nurse on call and she advised a trip to the ER. So I grabbed the diaper bag, grabbed Larson and off we went to the ER. He was checked for pneumonia, but his lungs were clear. The doctor said he was fighting an infection.
Over the next few days he returned to normal, but then something else reared it's ugly head......TEETHING!
Larson does not like growing teeth. Not one bit. He was fussy, cranky, he woke up in the middle of the night and he rarely finished a bottle. It took about 5 days from the time I noticed he was teething until it pushed through. He was a lot happier after that. So now he's got a little tooth coming in on the bottom with another one right next to it. This one doesn't seem to be bothering him as much.
To calm him down, I like to take him on walks around the neighborhood. He loves to look around and soak it all in. This week I tried something different. Instead of wearing him in his carrier, I put him in his big boy stroller. That's right. Legs dangling out the front and all. He really enjoyed seeing the world this way and so did my back!
After my nightmarish weekend, Nique (or Yvette to some folks out there) came down last Thursday to help. We had an exercise at work and my hours were ca-razy! I had to come in over the weekend as well. A friend of mine offered to watch Larson for me during the evenings, but my sister came to the rescue. Larson had a great time hanging out with his Auntie Nique. She left to go back to VA yesterday. ::sniff:: ::sniff:: But we'll see her again in August along with the rest of the family.
While my sister was here, I got a call from the Coveneys, friends of ours. They were in town and wanted to meet up. My sister and I invited them over for dinner. It was great to catch up and see them all again. Their sons have grown so much! A few days later we all had dinner at the Zaverls. It was just like old times. I even made an ice cream cake.
And, the icing on the cake (haha! No pun intended), is that Jason came home today. After a month away, he was so happy to see Larson! We're all heading to Hot Springs, AR tomorrow for a little rest and relaxation. I can't wait. I've got my family back together again. It's going to be a great weekend!
